Which Desert Imaging center does your exam? A west-to-east guide
Five centers across El Paso County, and not every exam is at every one. What each center does, with the address, so you drive to the right door.
Desert Imaging has five centers, from the west side of El Paso out to Horizon City. They are not all the same. Mammograms, X-rays and ultrasound are at most of them. MRI is at two. PET/CT and nuclear medicine are at one. Knowing which center does your exam saves you a drive, so here they are, west to east.
West
122 W. Castellano Dr., El Paso, TX 79912.
West is our largest center and does eight kinds of exams. It is the only center with a 3-Tesla wide-bore MRI, alongside a 1.5-Tesla magnet, and it is where we do breast MRI. West also does 3D mammography, CT, ultrasound with elastography of the breast, liver and thyroid, X-ray, bone density, heart tests (EKG, 2D echocardiogram and coronary calcium score) and ultrasound-guided thyroid biopsy.
If your order says MRI and you are nervous about small spaces, ask for West.
Central
7812 Gateway Blvd. East, Suite 120, El Paso, TX 79915.
Central is our specialty center. It is the only location with PET/CT and the only one with nuclear medicine, so if your order is for either of those, Central is where you are going. Central also does CT and CT angiography, and heart tests including the stress test, EKG and coronary calcium score.
Central is open weekdays only. The other four centers are also open Saturdays, and every center has evening hours during the week.
East
1727 Lee Trevino Dr., El Paso, TX 79935.
East does the same eight kinds of exams as West, with one difference: its MRI is a 1.5-Tesla magnet. You will find 3D mammography, MRI, CT, ultrasound, X-ray, bone density, heart tests (EKG, 2D echocardiogram and coronary calcium score) and thyroid biopsy. For most people on the east side, East is the closest full-service option.
Joe Battle
3080 Joe Battle Blvd., Suite B, El Paso, TX 79938.
Joe Battle does 3D mammography, bone density, X-ray, ultrasound with elastography of the liver, breast and thyroid, and EKG. It does not have MRI or CT. If your order is for one of those, East is the nearest center that does.
Horizon City
13650 Eastlake Blvd., Suite A-102, Horizon City, TX 79928.
Horizon City is our easternmost center. It does 3D mammography, bone density, X-ray, ultrasound and EKG. Like Joe Battle, it does not have MRI, CT, PET/CT or nuclear medicine.

How to use this
Look at your doctor's order. Find the exam in the list above. Pick the center on the list that is closest to you, or the one with the first open appointment. When you call or request online, we check it again, so you will never be sent to a center that cannot do your exam. But knowing ahead of time means you can plan the drive, the parking and the time off work before you pick up the phone.
Every center is listed on our Locations pages with a map, hours and the full list of exams it offers. The exam-by-center grid on our home page shows the same information at a glance. If you are still comparing imaging centers, how to choose an imaging center in El Paso lists the questions worth asking any of them.
